If this is false
The map read the other way round. For each condition, everything that stops. Use it to price a failure rather than to diagnose one.
The dependency map is arranged for diagnosis: you arrive with a symptom and walk backwards. This page is arranged for the opposite job. You arrive with a condition you are not sure is worth the effort, and you want to know what it costs if it is false.
What the lists below are
For each condition, everything that directly waits on it. These are first order consequences only. The full cost is larger, because each item in a list has its own list, and following two or three levels of that from an early condition covers most of the map. Where a condition has nothing waiting on it, the page says so, and that is a real answer rather than a gap.
How to use it before anything is wrong
Read down the page and stop wherever a list looks longer than you expected. That gap between the effort a condition takes and the number of things waiting on it is the useful signal. Several of the cheapest conditions on this map, ones that cost a minute or a piece of paper, are directly upstream of four other conditions each.
The reverse is also worth noticing. A few conditions that feel serious and technical carry exactly one arrow. They are still worth getting right, but they are not structural, and knowing which is which is most of what a map is for. Roots and endings takes that comparison to its two extremes.
